Indian Yellow is a captivating and luminous color, cherished by watercolorists worldwide for its richness and transparency. With its warm, golden hue, it adds vibrant intensity to your work, making it ideal for capturing the warmth of a sunset, the softness of autumn foliage, or the brilliance of tropical flowers.

Historically, Indian Yellow was derived through a unique artisanal process, involving pigments extracted from the urine of cows exclusively fed on mango leaves. This method, abandoned for ethical and practical reasons, has been replaced by modern synthetic alternatives that are equally luminous but far more durable. At Isaro, Indian Yellow is often composed of two pigments, offering excellent permanence. Alternatively, you may prefer our Saffron Yellow, which is single-pigmented.

Combined with Prussian Blue or Ultramarine Blue, it creates rich and vibrant greens, perfect for landscapes. When paired with Burnt Sienna, it produces warm, earthy tones, ideal for autumnal scenes. Mixed with Pyrrole red deep or Isaro Rose, it yields warm, glowing oranges, perfect for floral compositions.

In simple dilution, Indian Yellow creates subtle and luminous washes, adding softness and radiance to your artwork.
