Discover the richness and depth of Lamp Black, a color for artists seeking deep tones and great expressive power. This mineral-based pigment, derived from carbon, offers an intense, velvety black that resists lightening when diluted with water.

Smoke Black is highly permanent.
This versatile black lends itself to a wide range of mixes to enrich your palette. When combined with Burnt Sienna, it creates warm, natural tones, perfect for volume effects, for example. When mixed with a deep blue, such as Ultramarine, you’ll achieve dark, textured grays. In very diluted washes, it’s ideal for dark skin tones. It can also create subtle gray nuances or misty effects when thinned.

Smoke Black is a pigment with a long history, dating back to antiquity, where it was used in frescoes and wall paintings. Never abandoned over the centuries, it was especially prized during the Renaissance, where it was widely adopted by masters for creating shadows and working with contrasts and chiaroscuro.
